Legion of Super Rejects The Legion of Super Rejects was formed by six applicants to the Legion of Super-Heroes who were rejected only for the reason that no two members can have duplicate powers. The rejects were from the same planets and had the same powers as their counterparts. Feeling that this was unjust, they decided to challenge their Legion counterparts to a battle to determine who should have the right to be a Legionnaire.

When the Legionnaires refused to engage in a grude match, The Rejects attacked and it quickly became evident that they were, indeed, more powerfil. Superboy stopped the battle but the six rejects challenged the Legionnaires to prove themselves worthy or forfeit their positions. Stung by the challenge, the six legionnaires accepted. During the battle the legionnaires were on the verge of losing to their stronger counter-parts until they decided to use their vastly greater team skills to beat their opponents. The legionnaires won and the rejects were shamed. Three returned to their home worlds but three grew even more bitter and joined the Legion of Super-Villains.
