PRELUDE :It is mid-morning when the three heroes arrive on the Houston roof-top. The scientists are there already with two large trunks packed tight with scientific equipment and supplies. Golem shape-shifts into a hover-craft and has the Samantha, Betty and The Professor board. He seems slightly disappointed when the scientists take his shape-shifting powers for granted. He soundlessly rises from the roof, flanked by Thunderbolt and Singularity.
Singularity erects a force wall around Golem to protect the scientists from any micro-meteorites. The group move slowly out into space, giving the scientists a tour. Golem passes near the moon but the Scientists seem unimpressed. As they do a close fly-by of Mars, the scientists start to chatter about the possibilities of colonization.
As the group near to within 10,000 miles of the Asteroid Base, they contact the base so it can identify them. Transmissions from it are garbled and its computer seems to be having trouble identifying the new members. Thunderbolt and Singularity fly ahead and Singularity deactivates the base defenses so Golem and the scientists are not fired upon.

Arriving at the asteroid, Golem enters and lands in the hanger bay - still shape-shifted as a hover-craft. A the hanger bay door closes and the area re-pressurizes, the computer suddenly seems to reset and scans the group. It recognizes Thunderbolt but not the new members and suddenly announces that all are "alien intruders"! The lights dim as it tries to divert enough power to overcome Singularity's manual over-ride on its defense systems. Failing that, an emergency protocol is enabled, something it announces as the "Phalanx System". Thunderbolt hears this and goes white.

THE ADVENTURE : Three doors on the right of Golem suddenly slide open to reveal three large robotic shapes housed within. Thunderbolt and Golem recognize the robots as Sentry Robots used by the Kree to enforce the borders their inter- stellar territories. Singularity has a sudden flashback of an attack upon himself and his parents by a giant robot. He had always thought the robot was a Sentinel but now, seeing the mechanical monsters before him - he is no longer sure.
These Sentrys are fully 10' tall and to Thunderbolt and Golem's trained eyes, have several differences from those they studied in EBTNs. They have a large, cylindrical red light upon their heads, what appears to be an antenna mounted on one shoulder, their armor is a greenish tint and most apparent; a large five pointed golden star graven upon their metal chests. The star is the symbol of the original Star Guard!

Golem is caught in a dilemma. He is still shape-shifted and carrying the scientists and still englobed in a force wall that prevents him from separating from the scientists. "Kree Sentries!", shout the scientists as they scramble about the hover-craft. Golem uses his shape-shift ability and changes from a hover-craft to bands of liquid metal that form a barrier between the scientists and the Sentries.
Singularity pounds the control panel at the far end of the hanger bay in frustration as he realizes that the manual controls can not over-ride this defense system. He rushes toward the nearest Sentry but it meets his charge with a blistering blast of plasma energy from its eyes. He is stunned by the attack and goes down!
Thunderbolt, realizing the deadly threat the robots pose, summons lightning and sends it crashing into the second Sentry. The Sentry shrugs off the attack and responds with plasma beams that stagger her.
The third Sentry attacks Golem, its plasma blast shattering the force wall but not seriously affecting Golem or the scientists.

While Singularity and Thunderbolt battle the Sentries, Golem rushes the scientists to another door to his left that houses the hanger's "loader". This is a heavy lifting vehicle right out of the movie; "Alien". He manages to get the scientists inside the room and the door closed before getting hit in the back by another plasma burst.
Singularity again tries to move closer, trying to clear his mind of the horrible visions of a robot attacking and killing his parents. The Sentry is under no such pressure and staggers the young mutant with a plasma burst. Picking himself up, he yells, "This is for my Parents!" and hits the nearest Sentry with an intense gravitational effect that cracks a portion of the robot's armor.
Thunderbolt continues attacking with her deadly lightning strikes, aware of a danger neither of the two new members are aware of. Her first bolt staggers her opponent but only manages to mark its armor with its deadly force. She knows the Sentries were made by the original Star Guard of which she was a part. The robot parts were found in a deep cave in the asteroid and the members used a combination of Kree, Skrull and Earth Technology to construct them. They were considered to be a last ditch measure in case the base ever again fell into hostile alien hands. Summoning her utmost power, she hits her target a glancing blow. She knows that the robots are receiving telemetry from the base which is making their attacks much more accurate. She passes along this information.

Seeing the vision of his parents fall in his mind eye, Singularity screams, "And that's For Mom!" as his next attack tears a chunk of armor from the Sentry's leg and the robot falls backward. He continues to pound the downed robot.
Thunderbolt again calls upon her deepest reserves and her lightning bolt shatters her armored foe's arm. The third Sentry turns its attention to her and states, "Actuating Lethal Force Parameters!" It fires a laser beam at her that sends her reeling, her costume smoldering. She recovers her balance and strikes the Sentry in the faceplate with a powerful lightning bolt. The Sentry goes down with a crash.
Golem rushes across the hanger bay, trying to close with the Sentries. Seeing its companions fall, the third Sentry hesitates and announces, "Initiating Fusion Reactor Overload!"

Thunderbolt's worst fear has come true. The Sentries were designed to blow up the base in case it was ever taken over by aliens to prevent it from being used against the Earth.
The door to the loader room suddenly opens and the Loader moves out of the room and into the hanger bay. Professor Minsc is driving the loader while Samantha and Dr. Haywood crouch on the loader holding strange gizmos and pointy things.
Before the scientists can act, Golem has Thunderbolt open the hanger bay doors and he grabs and throws the Sentry out the airlock in one fluid move!

"The Sentries are equipped with a nuclear device!", cries Thunderbolt! "They must be miles away from the base or it won't do any good!"
Golem flies out the airlock after the Sentry. Singularity continues to batter the two downed Sentries but notices that their crimson lights atop their heads are now pulsing in time with the now departed third robot! They too have activated a fusion overload!
Singularity uses his telekinetic powers to grab the downed Sentries and throws them out the hanger bay into space. Thunderbolt flashes past him and uses her superhuman strength to grab each before they can separate!
Golem flashes away at faster than light speed for a second and lets the Sentry loose. He continues on for a second at FTL as space is suddenly ignited in a nuclear inferno.
Thunderbolt does the same and manages to get out of range before space is lit with twin nuclear explosions! They are both caught in the fringes of the explosion and take minor damage but managed to get the robots far enough away from the base to keep it safe.
Thunderbolt and Golem return to the base but find that they are irradiated and take a quick trip to Mars where Thunderbolt uses her Weather Control powers to give them a cleansing bath. Golem's usually shiny, metallic skin is pock-marked and shows sign of damage.

When the heroes return to the asteroid base, the scientists are already busily at work and have several control panels removed and dozens of components scattered about. "Do you know someone has been experimenting with Temporal Physics??!", asks an outraged Professor Minsc, pointing at a console connected to the teleportation disc. The group explain that Nemesis was trying to use the equipment to return to his own time.
Dr. Haywood looks harassed and annoyed, as usual, and complains, "They are using a mixture of Kree, Skrull and Earth technology!" She throws her hands up in disgust.
Professor Minsc points to a spider web of tendrils leading to a conduit and says, "There appear to be hundred of interlinks to a crystalline control device." He points at the Star Gem and says, "It is damaged but seems to have been capable of performing miraculous feats of computation and energy control! It is far in advance of Skrull technology! What is it!"
The group quickly explain about the Star Gem and how it was recently noticed to be damaged. The scientists cluster about the gem chattering away about what it might possibly be in a techno-babble that makes Singularity's eyes cross.

Later, Professor Minsc announces that he has restored the base's FTL Flicker Communications system. He has also repaired the energy signature detector the group carried on their last mission and he points out that it is again receiving a signal - from a different star system!! "As you can clearly see...", he says, pointing to a series of waveforms and flashing lights on a control console, "it is coming from a star system 20 light years away!"
Samantha Moore is working on another system and points out that much of the computer memory has been wiped but that there are hundreds of back-logged messages. One is marked Ultra-Urgent and seems to be a snippet of a distress call from the same general location as the previously mentioned star system.

Knowing that several members of the original Star Guard are still missing, and that others might be victims of the same inter-stellar booby traps that they almost fell prey to, the group decide to investigate. They leave the scientists at the base to continue their work and give them the access codes to the teleport disc located in Phoenix so the scientists can return to Earth if needed. That done, they make the long journey to the far off star system.

As they approach the star system, they use the detector to find the source of the energy emissions. They near a large planet, possibly 1.2 times the gravity of Earth. It is a rocky, barren place with a sulphurous, smoky atmosphere. They soon find an inky black hemisphere reminiscent of the force barrier that imprisoned them. Singularity deduces the location of the underground power supply that exploded when they escaped their prison and destroys it!

The bubble of blackness quickly dissipates, being a cloud of smoke and fine carbon particles, to reveal three black soot-covered figures, one standing 8 foot tall and glowing like a red hot coal. The second figure seems female but totally black in color and crackling with electrical energy. The third is an alien biped. Even as they watch, the soot flakes away on this individual to reveal what appears to be a crystalline humanoid. This quickly changes as crystals seem to grow from the ground around him and cover his body, increasing his mass and height. Razor sharp claws grow from his hands and a glittering horn grows from his head. He now stands about 12 foot tall. He growls something in a chittering, alien language, something that sounds like a challenge!!
