PRELUDE : Omega Man has announced that he is considering membership with the Star Guard. His fan club announces a campaign to rename the Star Guard to The Omega Guard. The Star Guard has no comment on the matter.
In her secret identity, Thunderbolt continues to work on putting some type of security on the border to prevent terrorists and drugs from being smuggled across. Her efforts seem to be in vain as the politicians try to curry favor with those who wish the flow of illegal aliens to remain unchecked.
Nemesis approaches the Solar System from a long mission to several far off star systems where he has battled Skrulls. These battles have been largely inconclusive and Nemesis has the uneasy feeling that the Skrulls were attempting to draw him away from Earth. As he nears the asteroid belt, he radios ahead to the star base and after a minute, is surprised to hear a Russian voice asking him to identify himself!!

As Nemesis approaches closer to the base, the star base computer refuses to identify him and warns him off. Irritated, Nemesis Mind Links with Thunderbolt and asks, "What the Hell is going on?!" Thunderbolt is able to take a break from her work and uses her comm-unit to verify Nemesis's identity. The base's defenses are shut down and Nemesis enters the hanger bay, to be greeted by Prof. Minsc and Dr. Haywood. He also notices that the voice for the base's systems has been updated. It now a sultry, female voice.
Nemesis is a bit peeved when he sees half the consoles torn apart and the other half jerry-rigged. Almost immediately, the scientists start asking about the temporal modifications Nemesis had done to the teleport systems and asking if they can remove it. Thrown off balance by their very presence, Nemesis is blunt in telling the scientists not to touch the mods.
A signal from Thunderbolt is received. It seems to be a replay of her original communication, confirming Nemesis' identity. She seems unaware of her previous communication.

Thunderbolt arrives and Nemesis briefs her about his theory of a "Time Loop". A signal from Candy Moore, the Defense League comm-officer, is received. She is trying to contact Firehawk. Nemesis asks if this pertains to the Time Loop and she puts him in contact to someone named "Tweaky". This "Tweaky" character seems to be a brilliant scientist despite the code-name and he and Nemesis quickly start comparing notes on the time loop. Tweaky announces that he has erected a Temporal Shield at his location and is monitoring the situation.
A warning that a power overload is in process from the teleport systems shatters the discussion. Fearing that the scientists have tampered with the temporal mods to the teleport systems and somehow created a time loop, Nemesis heads for the main control room. Sure enough, a pretty, blonde woman is working feverishly on the console with the temporal mods.
Nemesis issues a stage two alert and asks Thunderbolt to join him immediately.

Nemesis tersely questions the woman and finds that she is Samantha Moore, one of the scientists trying to repair the base systems. She is trying to prevent an overload that is building up in the system. Nemesis quickly uses his knowledge of temporal physics to see that the overload has created a temporal shield around the asteroid base and thus alerted him to the presence of a time loop. He quickly uses his knowledge of electronics, physics and Skrull technology to shut down the overload. Samantha seems impressed and peppers him with questions about the system.
Thunderbolt calls in Omega Man since no other members of the Star Guard respond. After introductions, Nemesis briefs them on the situation. The scientists keep to the background but seem to hang on every word. Tweaky calls again and they compare data and conclude that it originated in the solar system and is probably located within 2 AU of Earth. Nemesis uses his Galacti-Net access to search for reports on the anomaly. He receives a report that says the anomaly was detected approximately 3 parsecs away from the Solar System.
Omega Man seems to have technological skills and helps to bring several systems online. He is fascinated by the blending of Kree and Skrull technology.
An energy signature has been detected by Tweaky. Nemesis quickly does a computer scan and finds a match. The signature is very close to one detected when the Kree Star Force uses the Omni-Wave Projector to bypass the base's defenses in the past.
The base's sensors are functioning in a limited capacity and are only capable of scanning within 1 AU. Prof. Minsc quickly offers his detection device which might be calibrated to track down the source of the energy signature. Nemesis tells the scientists that the base is no longer safe and tells them to leave immediately via the teleporter.

THE ADVENTURE : Carrying the detection device, the group quickly flies to Earth and from there detect the energy signature originating between the Earth and the Sun. Nemesis and Thunderbolt conclude that the source of the anomaly is the spatial anomaly that leads to a wormhole linking the Kree and Skrull Galaxies. As we approach the area, Thunderbolt sees what seems to be a large device surrounded by humanoids floating in space. We drop out of FTL and circle around, coming in with the sun to our backs at .36 the speed of light.
The device is surrounded by three Kree that we recognize as Captain Atlas, Dr. Minerva and Ultimus; three of the Kree Star Force. A dozen or so Skrull bodies float nearby, wrapped in captor nets. The device seems to be directing a beam of energy into the wormhole, energy that seems to be destabilizing it.

The Kree spot us when we are still 1000 feet away. Captain Atlas is working on the device while Dr. Minerva and Ultimus stand guard nearby. Seeing the extent of the emergency and the possible implications to Earth, Nemesis issues a Stage 4 Alert.
Over our communicators, we receive the following from Dr. Minerva, "This does not concern you Terrans! Leave my Presence!"

Omega Man responds, "This is OUR Solar System!"
Nemesis announces, "This is Nemesis of the Star Guard! Stop what you are doing and leave our Solar System at once!" When they make no move to comply, Nemesis targets Captain Atlas with an Ego Blast. An energy shield around the device shields Captain Atlas from the Ego Blast. The other members of the group do not have attacks that can reach from this distance.
Ultimus teleports a small distance towards us to block our way. Nemesis comms, "Do an end run around Ultimus! Stop Captain Atlas!"
Dr. Minerva sends a beam of pale energy at Omega Man who tries to deflect it but discovers that it is some kind of mental attack. Fortunately, he is easily able to parry the attack.

Seeing that his one long range attack is ineffective against the shield around the omni-wave projector, Nemesis decided to close the distance as soon as possible. Dodging, he creates light illusions of Firehawk and Mauler at his side, allowing them to take the lead. Ultimus takes the bait and fires at the Mauler image but misses.
Dr. Minerva targets Nemesis with her strange Ego Blast at hits the youthful protector. He is caught off guard by its concussive force but easily shrugs off its effect because of his intensive mental training. Nemesis comms, "If you have mental defenses, put them up!"
Thunderbolt summons lightning and strikes the field surrounding the omni-wave projector. The field wavers briefly. Captain Atlas shouts, "Fools! What do you intend to do?! Destroy us All?!"

The group continues to move in. Dr. Minerva targets the Firehawk image and discovers it is an image. She communicates this fact to her companions. Seeing that she has discovered his ploy, Nemesis changes tactics! He creates two copies of himself and has one copy hang back. We are now nearing Ultimus and he targets the Nemesis that seems to be shielded by the other two. "Ha! You're not so Smart!" he cries in triumph as his concussive blast engulfs the image. Nemesis has the image shrivel up and appear to be dead.
Thunderbolt again sends a lightning bolt at the Omni-wave projector but misses. Omega Man targets Dr. Minerva with his Energy Drain attack and hits her. Captain Atlas leaves the safety of the Omni-wave projector and fires on Thunderbolt with a charged particle beam. Thunderbolt is staggered but continues her advance.
The energy beam coming from the Omni-Wave Projector continues to pour into the wormhole. Nemesis requests that Omega Man try to reflect the energy beam and the techno-hero moves in that direction.

Realizing how concerned Captain Atlas is that the Omni-Wave device might be damaged, Nemesis comms, "Might not be wise to damage the device! Captain Atlas seemed to be afraid of it!" Also, knowing that Dr. Minerva is using some sense to see through his light illusions, Nemesis switches tactics. He turns invisible to light and radar and dodges. Only Dr. Minerva seems able to track him somehow.
Thunderbolt and Omega Man also fly straight toward the device, trying to dodge the attacks of Captain Atlas and Ultimus.

Still invisible to sight and radar, Nemesis finally reaches the force field around the Omni-Wave device. As he tries to determine the best course of action, he notes a small device strapped to Captain Atlas' belt. Minerva again targets Nemesis and knocks him off balance with her mental disruptor blast.
Ultimus unleashes a powerful concussive Blast at Omega Man as the battle-suited hero tries to evade him and make it to the energy beam. Thunderbolt continues to move toward the Star Force.

Seeing Nemesis near the Omni-Wave and somehow detecting the invisible hero, Dr. Minerva moves in only to be met by a telekinetic punch! The strike knocks her back almost 25 feet.
Captain Atlas targets Thunderbolt but misses. Omega Man hits Dr. Minerva with his energy drain attack and weakens her. Ultimus charges Omega Man.

Nemesis lashes out at the force field around the Omni-Wave device. The field wavers but does not go down. "Pink Skinned Imbecile!", cries Dr. Minerva.
"Hey!!", responds Nemesis. "You'll hurt my feelings!'"
Thunderbolt strikes Captain Atlas with a Thunderbolt that staggers the Kree warrior. "Get out of our Solar System!", she cries.
Omega Man targets the Omni-Wave device with his plasma blast and brings the force field down! The blast also seems to damage the device and its beam of energy wavers and pulses sporadically.

Nemesis studies the Omni-Wave device now that the force field is down. He notes that the control panel seems to be partially disassembled. He verifies that this is advanced Kree technology and not a Skrull device. Dr. Minerva hits Nemesis a glancing blow that knocks him away from the Omni-Wave.
Nemesis comms on the Kree frequency, "You wanna fight or tell me what's going on?!"
Dr. Minerva arrogantly replies, "If you dogs had listened before, I told you this was none of your concern!"
"Tell me what you're up to or I blast the device, Potty Mouth!", replies Nemesis.
"We Kree do not have to answer to you Pink Skinned Primitives but we're trying to save your system!", cries Dr. Minerva.
"Then stand down and we'll work together, oh Paragon of Virtue!", cries Nemesis, his patience almost exhausted.
Ultimus hits Omega Man with a concussive blast and the plasma tech hero is knocked unconscious, flying limply past Nemesis and Dr. Minerva.
Captain Atlas calls out, "Stand Down but no Terrans approach the Device!"
"Wrong Bucko!", cries Nemesis. "You tell me what you're up to or I'll blast your green ass!" What Captain Atlas ignores the that, Nemesis attacks with an Ego Blast but the Kree Warrior deflects it.
With Omega Man unconscious, the odds have shifted in the Kree's favor.

Ultimus moves to Captain Atlas and surrounds both in a powerful force field. Nemesis targets both Kree with a telekinetic haymaker but misses. Thunderbolt closes and Dr. Minerva strikes her with a disruptor blast.
Nemesis creates more images of himself. Ultimus charges one image that seems to be sneaking up on Captain Atlas and passes through the image harmlessly. Another image of Nemesis cries, "Nahh, Na, Na, Nah, Nah!!" and in Kree calls Ultimus a "Ka'Chuk!" The real Nemesis punches Captain Atlas but misses.
Thunderbolt changes to vapor and streaks across the battlefield, surrounding Dr. Minerva in a smothering field of high pressure.
Both Captain Atlas and Dr. Minerva target Nemesis. The youthful hero is slightly injured by Captain Atlas's attack and knocked further off balance by Dr. Minerva's mental bombardment.
      Omega Man recovers consciousness.

Ultimus lashes out with a wave of concussive force that staggers Nemesis. The young hero turns invisible and tries to dodge further attacks.
Omega Man strikes Ultimus with an Energy Drain attack. Captain Atlas manages to complete whatever operation her was doing on the Omni-Wave device and it starts crackling with overload energy.
Maintaining her gaseous form, Thunderbolt moves to intercept Dr. Minerva.

Ultimus fires on Omega Man but misses. Nemesis is invisible and winds up for a haymaker. Omega Man strikes Dr. Minerva with an Energy Drain. Captain Atlas fires on Thunderbolt but misses. Nemesis strikes with all his power, knocking Captain Atlas away from the Omni-Wave and almost stunning him. Thunderbolt and Dr. Minerva exchange attacks.
Nemesis studies the Omni-Wave device for a seconds and realizes that the overload has destroyed it. It is melting down to useless slag. "Device has been fried!", comms Nemesis. "Take out the Invaders!" The young hero targets Captain Atlas with a Telekinetic Haymaker pushing with all his might. The telekinetic attack hits the Kree Captain and knocks him unconscious!
The wormhole is slowly beginning to stabilize. With Captain Atlas down, the tide of battle quickly turns against the Star Force Dr. Minerva flees the area at FTL speeds and the group concentrate on the two remaining foes. Ultimus tries to grab Captain Atlas and try to escape. Nemesis and Thunderbolt doggedly pursue him and Nemesis is fast enough to be able to match his FTL speed and also attack! Omega Man decides to stay at the wormhole site and see if any of the Skrull have survived.
Captain Atlas is able to regain consciousness. He and Ultimus split up. Nemesis and Thunderbolt decide that Captain Atlas would be the better source of information and easily overpower the battered Kree Warrior.
Meanwhile, Omega Man has investigated the Skrulls at the site and found only two alive. Most seem to have died due to the failure of their life support systems which were damaged in the battle. He gathers them up and starts for Earth. He contacts Vault to see if they can hold them. Vault seems very uncooperative and remind Omega Man of the incident where he caught three of their agents in the effects of his Energy Drain attack with the false Dr. Doom.
Nemesis comms that he and Thunderbolt have captured Captain Atlas and for Omega Man to rendezvous with them.
The Skrulls and Captain Atlas are stripped of their weapons systems. Nemesis surrounds Captain Atlas in a life support field. He removes the Kree Warrior's helmet, deactivates it and jams it back on his head - backwards.

Knowing that Vault has little jurisdiction in this matter and are not prepared for the shape-shifting tricks of Skrulls, it is decided to take the prisoners to the asteroid base for interrogation. Nemesis first verifies that the scientists have evacuated the base.
Taking the prisoners into the hanger bay, the group discuss the best way to interrogate them. Nemesis manually activates the Stun Cannon and sets it to fire on them at their first sign of activity. In the middle of the discussion, the base's sensors detect a starship passing within sensor range. A quick scan reveals that the ship is of alien configuration, neither Kree nor Skrull.
Leaving Thunderbolt to guard the prisoners, Nemesis and Omega Man intercept the star ship and identify themselves. Nemesis announces that he is an appointed "Protector" of this Solar System. The response is immediate. The vessel is part of an Inter-Stellar Expeditionary Force that operates under the auspices of a Commonwealth. This Commonwealth has its origin in this sector. The Commander introduces himself as Captain Tach'Nel.
Captain Tach'nel recognizes the group as being legitimate law enforcement personnel from Earth and does not press as to whether the group represents all nations or just one. He is impressed that Nemesis was assigned to be a "protector" of Earth by a rogue Watcher but is careful to state that a Watcher has no legal status to do so in their jurisdiction.
Nemesis recognizes the authority of The Commonweath and tells Thunderbolt and Omega Man that they are the "Good Guys". He does, however, state that as local law enforcement representatives, the group has precedence. Nemesis asks the Captain to rendezvous at the Asteroid Base and, as an act of good faith, offers to come aboard.

Once on-board the ship, Nemesis undergoes an Mind Link with a AI device to verify his identity. The aliens are humanoids and are investigating the temporal anomaly. The commander is quickly briefed on the situation and apprised of the prisoners. Captain Tach'Nel offers to take Captain Atlas into custody if the group wishes to prefer charges.
After a brief discussion, Thunderbolt asks about the Commonwealth's Code of Laws and Nemesis shows her how to access it over his Galacti-Net. Captain Atlas is taken into custody and Captain Tach'Nel says that the trial date will be in two Earth standard months and gives us the location where the trial will be held.

Captain Atlas is Mind Probed and it is found that the three members of the Star Force were to set up the Omni-Wave device to close the spatial anomaly at the Sol System. Their intent was not to directly harm Earth or its inhabitants but to stop the Skrulls from using the wormhole to invade their galaxy. If, however, closing the anomaly meant destabilizing the Sun and causing the deaths of billions, that is something they were prepared to accept.
A group of Skrull attacked the Star Force while the Omni-Wave was being set up, causing the Omni-Wave to go out of control and causing the anomaly to start to destabilize. Captain Atlas came to the conclusion that the anomaly provides a delicate balance needed to keep the Sun in balance. Even the Omni-Wave, he concluded, could not permanently shut down the anomaly and wormhole.
When the Star Guard attacked, Captain Atlas was in the process of trying to deactivate the Omni-Wave device to prevent it from opening an even larger wormhole. In his mind, he saved the Earth. Never mind that he put it in danger in the first place.

The two living Skrulls are also turned over but not before they are stripped of their equipment. Both Nemesis and Omega Man are anxious to study it. They also want to study Captain Atlas's battlesuit but the Commonwealth requires it as part of their evidence.
Captain Tach'nel says that as indigenious life of the Sol System, the Commonwealth recognizes their authority in the Terran System but that they might wish to apply for Inter-Stellar Police Powers under the auspices of the Commonwealth.
Tweaky soon informs us that all evidence of the Temporal Anomaly has disappeared.
