THE ADVENTURE : Maelstrom is patroling around Arizona, hoping to meet more members of The Defense League when he is alerted to a situation and asked to investigate. Giant sized figures have been spotted in the desert by several individuals driving along the hi-way. The sightings are near The Defense League base and Maelstrom suspects it is one of the group. He moves into the area to investigate.
The State Police have also received reports of these giant figures and radio to see if there are any power enhanced beings willing to investigate. Dark Blade answers the call and teleports to the location given to him.
Maelstrom arrives first on the scene and sees a 20' tall Sentinel smash through a pile of debris, holding the bloody body of a man. Sentinels are Mutant hunting robots used by several organizations, including the United States Government. Maelstrom is a mutant and hates the tenacious robots.
Maelstrom challenges the robots and tells them to leave the man alone. The Sentinel states that it is on an authorized mission and for Maelstrom to leave the scene.
Dark Blade appears a hundred feet away in the shadow of a collapsed building.

Unwilling to allow the Sentinels to leave with the injured man, Maelstrom and Dark Blade attack. The Sentinels strike back, analyzing the two figures opposing them. Their sensors quickly identify Maelstrom as a Mutant and their programming allows them to start using deadly force.
The Sentinel's sensors scan Dark Blade but the results seem unclear. His magical cape blocks the sensors and lead to confusing results.
Working together, the two heroes battle the robots and first one falls and then the other. Dark Blade's sword of darkforce slices through the robot's circuitry while Maelstrom's great strength tears them to pieces.
Fearing internal injuries, the heroes call in a rescue helicopter to care for the injured man. The man is transported to a nearby hospital where he is treated for several broken bones and some bad burns. Later, the man is identified as Robert Roy, a lesser known petty mutant criminal known as "The Rubber Band Man".
The robots were on a sanctioned mission to apprehend the mutant when the heroes "interfered". An NSA spokesman declines to take any actions against Maelstrom and Dark Blade, citing a possible misunderstanding.
